Toilet Repair Tips From a Plumber in Raleigh

If you’re planning on raising a family in Raleigh someday, you’ll need to learn how to potty train. Or maybe you’re already passed that point in your life, or want nothing to do with that altogether! Either way, as a homeowner with or without kids, you need to make sure your plumbing system is kept in proper working condition in order to sustain a healthy environment for you and your family. One of the key fixtures of your plumbing system is the toilet. As gross as it may be sometimes, you’re the one in charge of keeping up with its maintenance.

Our qualified plumbers of JD Service Now in Raleigh have all the emergency and non-emergency plumbing services you could ever dream of including repairs, replacements, installations and maintenance items. At the forefront of our most popular plumbing services is toilet repairs. We’ll ensure that your toilet is functioning properly to keep your family hygienic and happy.

For all you DIY fans out there always ready to learn, our pro plumbers would like to offer you these 3 toilet repair tips to keep your bathroom thrones in tip top shape:

1. Mysterious Flushes

If your toilet seems to be refilling at random times, it’s probably caused by a slow leak from a bad flapper or flapper seat. To resolve this issue, drain the toilet bowl and the toilet tank, and clean or install a new flapping if needed.

2. Water is Seeps in the Tank of Toilet

If your toilet is making a hissing noise, it’s most likely from the water flowing from the supply line. If this is happening, check the float, refill tube and inlet-valve assembly (otherwise known as the ballcock). These parts may need to be adjusted as the refill tube should be about a quarter of an inch below the overflow tube’s rim. Another issue could be that the inlet-valve assembly is malfunctioning and you’ll need to get a new one.

3. Weak Flushes

If your toilet is slowing emptying when you flush it, this most likely indicates that the holes under the toilet’s rim where the flushing water is coming out are being blocked or clogged. A simple piece of wire can be used to delicately poke every hole to force out the blockage. A handy tip here is to use a small, purse-size mirror to see them clearly.
