Don?t run your AC when you?re out during the day. You don?t need to keep your air conditioner running when you?re out; in fact, it?s a waste of time and money. Instead, turn it on as soon as you get home and it will cool the indoor temperature within 10 to 15 minutes. Note: if you own a pet, then you should keep the AC running during the day in order to protect your furry friend from dehydration and heat stoke!

Keep the drapes or blinds closed. The indoor temperature rises exponentially when the sun shines into a room. Keeping the drapes, shutters or blinds closed during the day will stop the sunrays from heating the home. This means your AC won?t have to work as hard to keep the place cool.

Have your air conditioner regularly serviced. A properly functioning AC is energy-efficient and effective, plus, it will last longer. Make sure to schedule regular AC service to keep your appliance in good working order. AC service includes cleaning or replacing the filter, cleaning the parts, repairing or replacing any worn or damaged parts, and if necessary, filling up the Freon.
